Corridor Health Security Through 7-1-7 Detection, 4 Countries

SoHit Team 5 uses accessible technologies like offline-first mobile data collection, edge analytics, GPS-guided field dispatch, and direct integration with the national health information systems ministries already run to build outbreak detection and response capacity along West African trade corridors. We place structured observation where people and goods already gather, convert what those sites see into signals health officers can act on, and deliver them inside the 7-1-7 standard: detection within seven days, notification within one, response within seven. Our approach focuses on speed without new bureaucracy, with analysis that happens on the device so the network is never the bottleneck, signals that terminate in national systems rather than a parallel one, and workforce certification that maps to the training routes ministries already recognize.

Outbreaks are found late because the places where disease actually crosses borders are the places with the least capacity to notice anything: markets, transport terminals, and crossings where movements are still logged on paper and systems have sat broken for years. SoHit Team 5 bridges this gap by putting the instrument where the traffic is and routing everything it produces back to the authorities who hold the mandate to act. We work with ministries, corridor authorities, and national organizations ready to own the system rather than host someone else's. Our corridor approach shows how offline-first tools, national system integration, and locally held expertise can close the gap between when something starts and when someone knows about it.

Follow our newsletter for field notes from corridor observation sites, insights from workforce certification mapped to ministry training pathways, updates from our partners in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Ghana, and previews of the multilingual health literacy work we're building with international partners.
